...obviously for the sex as shown by the passionless sex with her husband and the stark difference with her paramour. So I believe she did love her husband, she just wasn't having her needs met sexually. Also judging from her mother, she was brought up watching unfaithful and dysfunctional relationships. It happens all the time for the hopelessly naive among you out there. Furthermore, they always make these grubby, unclean, dark featured exotic looking ponytailed guys in the movies so irresistable; which, is always a joke to me. In real life he wouldn't have gotten anywhere near her.

Simply, she is a bit*ch.

I don't care how long you've been married and how monotonous sex can become. If you can have sex with a person you can also sit down with that said person and talk about your sexual needs and what you would like to change, etc.
That your needs are not met is simply a cheap excuse to have sex with other people. This also applies to men.

What world do you live in? Sit down with your partner and tell them you're not being satisfied sexually by he/she? Congrats to the Minority of individuals in relationships that do this because the Majority just doesn't do it. That's real life.

I totally agree! I don't know what fantasy these guys are living in but they need to wake up. Naturally, Men don't like to be told they're bad at sex. It's the way Men are wired. We don't like to be disappointed in anything we do although in reality, we may suck at whatever it is.

Seriously? In real life, if a couple has a problem with their sex life, they should talk to each other about it. How the hell else are they going to fix the problem (unless they go to a counselor)? That's what you're supposed to do if you want to stay together. However, if one partner does not want things to change, then the other might just have to sign those papers and move the heck on.

This is the 21st century---if a man can't handle being told that he's not good in bed, he needs to get himself some damn help then,because he's got some serious issues. A mature, grown-a** man would want to know what the hell his problem is with sex that's holding the couple back from enjoying. I don't know in what world a man's ago is so fragile that he can't handle being told he isn't good at something, but it for damn sure ain't mine. Men are flawed human beings and mess up just like anyone else---they aren't right all the damn time just because they're men. And don't give me that "men are wired this way" bull****--that's been used to justify men's sexism and give them a pass for some of the s*** they do and have always gotten away with, just because they're men. Nobody gets everything right all the damn time, not even sex---that's why you have options to get help.

You realize you're basing this judgment off another viewer's evaluation of the woman's motives, right? Rather than the woman's actual motives? I highly doubt she planned to leave her husband just because the sex was bad.

However I wouldn't have made the effort to sit down and talk to her..
I would have beaten the living *beep* out of her until she would beg me on her knees to forgive her..
She may have left me after that, but at least I would have had my gratification..

Yeah, and she would've called the police on you, and you would have been arrested and locked the hell up for assault. In a situation like that, it's best to just leave and get the hell out (especially if you don't have any kids.) Nobody's worth going to jail over like that---you're wrong as hell for wanting to do something like that. Saying all that makes you sound like a vicious bully and a control freak, which is disturbing. And it's just a damn movie--chill out. I swear,folks project way too much of their own personal shyt into movies nowadays.

That's so true---I mean, you can tell your partner you want to fck, but you can't talk to them about any issues you have with sex in your marriage or relatioship? That makes no damn sense to me at all. Also, to me, it was never really clarified in a film exactly why the wife was cheating on him---there's never any real reason given for that---except that the demon was exploiting the husband's suspicions about her.

Actually I think the scene you mentioned with David was to show that she was willing to lie with him when he wanted in order to cover up the affair. And how she couldn't really get into it that much but she'd act just enough to not bring suspicion. By not rejecting the act outright, she could keep him somewhat content for the night.

Right. That's the deception, which has been going on for a year, that makes Alice's behavior so despicable. Well, that and announcing that she's taking their son away at the same moment she says she loves David but is leaving him.

Furthermore, Alice initiated the sex, not David. She was almost certainly already pregnant. As I said in another thread, perhaps she was covering all the bases, so so speak, in case loverboy didn't want to be a father. She could pass the baby off as David's.

The entire film is designed to make us see things from David's point of view, be completely sympathetic to him and want him to be sane and innocent. Making Alice such an unlikable person was part of that.
