BOX-OFFICE PREDICTION

I get the feeling this is going to crash and burn at the box-office. The reviews are really mixed and there doesn't seem to be a great deal of buzz about it. Not only that, it seems like audiences may finally be getting Afghan/Iraq war film fatigue.

So, I'm going to say opening weekend box-office is under 7 million. Which, on a thirty plus million budget...well, you know.

Anyone else have an opening figure in mind?

I actually think it'll do better than that. My prediction would be about 12-15m, but that number is not too great tbh.

The studio has already given up on the film. Instead of releasing it wide (2000+) November 18th they decided to release it in only 800 theaters. Wouldn't be surprised if it opened under 5 Million and died quickly after that.

I guess you can say it underperformed opening with just $901,062. That's an abysmal opening with mediocre critical reception.

The budget was $40 million and it has done about $23 million world wide so far. That being said, I'm very surprised it has had such a disappointing box office. For one thing, they did hardly any advance promotion for this movie. I know this board has had a lot of negative reaction to this film, but I saw it last weekend and liked it. I agree with one poster who commented about audiences being burned out of war themed movies. I think that has contributed to this film doing poorly. Also, wasn't this movie filmed to be shown in 3D? They spent a fortune on special cameras, but I only see it playing in standard format. Lastly, the studio should have promoted it in advance!
