"In your opinion."

In mine, it's the best movie of the year, and also my favorite Lee's film.

reply

The only thing that's best in the movie is Joe Alwyn.

kinda agree with that, he really made Billy Lynn come alive, without him, the movie may not be that fascinating to me.

IMO its his Hulk movie. Man I was so pumped for that one and it turned out to be a dud.

I actually kind of liked Billy Lynn. The filming style was a little odd with such focus on facial close-ups but I found the story decent and it kept my interest. I agree that Hulk is his worst/most disappointing movie. That was pretty bad. Taking Woodstock I also found to be a weaker effort but not a terrible movie.

I liked it but it could have been way better.

Disagree. Ang Lee is getting better and better; he's more poignant than he ever was. Billy Lynn is not an easy film to watch, especially for Americans, I imagine. And for those want a film for a regular awards fare, forget about it, Ang Lee is never gonna to do that.

Joe Alwyn was terrific in this, so was Kerstin Stewart, and actually there's no weak link in this film performance-wise; it's a great ensemble cast.

I'd agree with the OP--this and "Hulk" are his biggest disappointments. "Hulk" was just the wrong kind of material for him, but this could have been great--I think the big mistake was using the super-high-def format. It just feels all wrong.

Ang Lee is proving that he is an overrated hack to be honest.

Hard to get hopes up when he hasn't made a good film in a long time.
