Idea for a 3rd movie
I saw a few people on this board throwing a few topics around, and saw the potential for a 3rd movie from these topics. The topic was about Johnny's mortality. So here's what I have in mind for a 3rd movie. Tell me what you think.
Johnny either starts to show signs of middle age or he gets into an accident where he almost dies but only ends up with a broken leg or something. This worries Drac. He starts thinking about the heartbreak he went through when he lost his wife. Not wanting Mavis and Dennis to go through that same pain, he suggests to Mavis to Turning Johnny into a vampire. He'd already implied considering this in the 1st movie, but Johnny, being oblivious, just made a joke out of being a vampire (this was when Drac pretended to be the wolf man).
Mavis, however, insists that she loves Johnny the way he is. She's also concerned that Turning him would take him away from his human family even more, and she doesn't want them to lose him anymore than they already have (not to mention all the stuff he would have to give up to be a vampire, sunlight, a reflection, garlic, etc). Drac therefore takes matters into his own hands by deciding to Turn Johnny himself. At first he tries to be sneaky about it, but keeps missing his chance. Eventually though, he gets caught by his friends. He explains the situation and his concerns, so they agree to helping him out. However, they suggest that it would be better to have Mavis do it herself, so Drac wouldn't get in trouble for forcefully taking Johnny's humanity.
So the plan changes. Instead of simply biting Johnny, they start setting up controlled but life-threatening situations for Johnny to get caught up in so the only option left would be to turn him or else he will die. But like how in the 1st movie Drac kept trying to keep Johnny and Mavis separated and how in the 2nd movie he kept trying to prove Dennis was a vampire, all his plans keep blowing up in his face, usually resulting in Drac or one of his friends getting hurt.
This is basically going to be the first half of the movie. The second half will introduce the villain. A vampire hunter, a descendent of Van Helsing, comes to the hotel to investigate. Drac and the gang then decide to trick the vampire hunter by making all the guests pretend they're human, but without letting them know why because he doesn't want to cause a panic. The vampire hunter remains suspicious and keeps trying to find proof that this is indeed a monster hotel.
Eventually, the vampire hunter seems convinced and leaves, so Drac begins making plans to Turn Johnny, and they begin going over their failed attempts. Mavis ends up overhearing this and becomes angry, which starts a big argument (since their seems to be one in each movie for the theme), about how Drac still hasn't completely accepted humans, while Drac argues that he only wants what's best for her and Dennis and doesn't want them to lose Johnny. Unbeknownst to them, the vampire hunter didn't leave, and now knows that his suspicions were right.
The vampire hunter tries to kill Drac, Mavis, and Dennis, and even fights against Drac's friends, and has the arsenal to fight against them since he's a hunter. It's really Drac that he wants, and he reveals that it was his ancestor that killed Drac's wife. After having defeated everyone, he manages to take Dennis hostage to get Drac to surrender. When Mavis tries to get her son back, the vampire hunter shoots her, but Johnny jumps in front of her to protect her, and they both go down. He then turns to finish off Drac while keeping Dennis hostage, but is suddenly surprised when Johnny attacks him from behind, allowing Mavis to rescue their son. Johnny reveals that Mavis Turned him to save his life after he took the bullet for her. Johnny (or maybe everybody) then defeats the vampire hunter.
After it's all over, Johnny reveals that he's completely cool with being a vampire, and so is his family when they find out.
So, what do you think? Sound interesting? Yes,? No? Maybe I'll suggest it to my friend who likes to write fanfiction. In any case, I do believe that Mavis or someone will Turn Johnny eventually. I just think that Mavis loves Johnny as he is, so they're waiting until it becomes necessary before doing it. They'd have to unless Mavis wants to lose her husband and Dennis wants to lose his father in 60-70 years.
