where others can easily pretend to be someone they're not?
Is it because you hope to find someone far more physically attractive than who you could expect to find in your regular, non internet life?
And why would someone more attractive than those you meet in your daily life would want you, when they could find someone like you without going through the hassles of internet dating?
This show reminds me of Trekkies who fantasize about hot aliens! As if a hot alien is going to choose them over their own kind.
If this is a serious question, I've actually had a few relationships start from people I've met online. Why? I feel it's easier to meet a lot of people. I don't hang out in clubs/bars. So, I'm HONESTLY not sure where to look. I'm not stupid about it though. If my personality seems to be going well with someone, then we video chat/snapchat. Etc. then we meet up. I would never talk to someone that I liked for months without seeing their face. There is too much technology available today for that to even be an option. Perhaps the people on this show are lonely. I don't know. Maybe the want to see the best on people and the are gullible. For me, I would never end up on catfish, because my uncertainty would never get that far.
CJN, pretty much my reasoning. I've tried meeting people in clubs and bars but I HATE hanging out there because you're probably not going to meet someone worthwhile there. Also, clubs and bars bore me aince I don't drink. I, too, have no idea where to meet someone and most of the men at my school are in some sort of relationship. It's "easier" to meet people online but you have to be smart about it and notice the red flags BEFORE you meet them. It's better to recognize them early on.
Sure people use fake pictures so that's why you face chat to be really know if that's truly them. Talking on the phone isn't enough, the proof is face chatting.
