I don't think even Lucas himself could beat his own space battle again. The first 15 minutes of this movie is just magical and probably will never be created again.
ROTS also had one of the best lightsaber fights out of all of the franchise although ESB may be a close second. There was so much emotion in the Obi Wan vs. Vader fight on Mustafar and my blood was pumping the entire time, that and John Williams score was amazing and I'm not just talking about Duel of the Fates.
Before Star Wars became Disney, Star Wars already became Disney.
In the OG trilogy the ships designs were cool AF and distinctive. Prequels were lame, cant think of a single ship design, In this the video linked the distinction was the "baddy" ship talked like a dumb robot and turned its head mid flight, maybe to talk to a ship next to it.
Why would it do that, 1s and 0s over radio would have done just as well and faster. Its just dopey.
Nah...The Phantom Menace has the greatest opening and opening crawl of all the movies. Just like it had the greatest score, the greatest actors, acting and dialouge, the greatest action, the greatest comic relief children's character ever, the greatest villain, the greatest visuals, set pieces, planets and costume design and the greatest ending to a Star Wars film ever.
If Revenge Of The Sith was truly the best...why did it fail to surpass The Phantom Menace's box office numbers???
The ESB made less than A New Hope. But most people say ESB is a better movie. If you look at the numbers on all 3 trilogies, you will see that there is a decline in all of them.
And I agree with the OP, the opening of ROTS is truly spectacular.
No Disney movie has even come close to a Lucas movie for an opening sequence.
