Not a very smart move.
Robbing the mob, that is.

Tru story tho:

They didnt last too long in case your wondering... which is obvious.
Of course they didn't last long. When the mob speaks, it speaks in unmistakable stentorian tones.

They were a pair of junkies, and mob clubs he robbed were full of people who had helped him or knew him in past. While some of the clubs had mob run card games, majority of victims were just people gambling small time.
shareThis is true, he was known to be a druggie, wonder if they show that?
Also, she did a stint in prison too. I know the real life version it was simply 2 dirt bags who robbed some mob rooms, and were killed off pretty fast.
But in perspective. Look at Wolf of Wall Street, great movie, but real life the real Jordan Belfort was nothing but a real POS that took hard earned money from elderly people and hurt everyone around him.
Ah, we will see how it fairs. I love Michael Pitt though. Not sure about that broad, never seen her act before.
I think they are going to portray them as a heroic pair, which they certainly were not. I was not aware the female had previously done time.
shareYeah, she did time, thats how they have her pic online, its her mug shot.
The trailer does make it look like they are heroic, but who knows, just a trailer.
People that do crimes like them are on suicide missions or have death wishes. Why else rob gangsters at their own social clubs when you live damn near the same places. Both of them did time and it is shown at the start of the movie. They kind of glamorized the movie because nobody in their right mind does what they did and sticks around. I find it also hard to believe that they would call the gangsters and threaten to blackmail them with the list if they get killed. The actors played good roles just not a believable story.
sharethey didn't want to blackmail the mob. They wanted the feds to know they had a list detailing the relationships between family members, so they called the numbers from the list believing the feds would be listening; they arrived at this conclusion after seeing the pictures, of the mob bosses in their underwear, in the newspaper.
they thought they were invincible. the mob wouldn't kill them because of the "will", and the feds would offer them witness protection in exchange for the list.
I heard this story about John Gotti but cant verify it.
After being acquitted and walking out of a courtroom a reporter asked Gotti if he was a crook.
Gotti looked at him and said some people call me a crook but compared to wall street I am nothing.
They didn't seem too smart to begin with.
In fact it's quite hard to sympathize with the two bottom feeders. They get handed a job pretty easy, but decide to throw it all away anyway, making one mistake after another in the process.
btw, did they actually contact a reporter in real life ? Talk about lethal vanity...
When I'm gone I would like something to be named after me. A psychiatric disorder, for example.

Enjoyed the movie except for Andy Garcia's beard. If he had only gotten rid of it I would have enjoyed his performance. It seems to me that he was trying to stand out, but it wasn't necessary.
