CGI took me out of the movie
Just saying, it sucked and wasn't needed.

Really? I thought it was pretty good, I mean it wasn't perfect but when has CGI ever been perfect? I thought it allowed the audience to immerse themselves into the movie more, being able to see and hear Toby, it was a thrilling experience for my theatre.

This one was kind of corny and a let down.
In my opinion what made PA1 so scary was it appeared realistic in my mind all the way until the end.
After they made it big they were able to afford CGI and special effects, which ruined the ambiance and my enthrallment when they showed people being flung around everywhere.
This movie my problem was just how stupid everyone is. Front door is open! Rather than running away full speed they lock themselves in the Haunted house. Brilliant!!!
Your reasoning appears 'logical' and I do agree on some parts, But you forgot the most biggest part of the first movie that ties into the whole series...
The Psychic: You cannot run from this- it will follow you. It may lay dormant for years. Something may trigger it to become more active and it may over time reach out to communicate with you
Even when they left, Leila was found in her bedroom when she was originally in the Hotel with her parents, it got to the point where the Demon didn't even need to follow them, just teleport her to the house, this has actually happened in the series before this one, you probably didn't notice it or remember it, so I'll lay these occurrences out for you.
Paranormal Activity 2 Ali checks on possessed Kristi, discovers her 'bite mark' and is startled by a sound in the next room and notices a shadow under the door in that room, she looks back at Kristi but finds that she's no longer in Hunter's room, she takes Hunter out of his crib but suddenly, Kristi enters Hunter's room.

Micah leaves possessed Katie outside, goes to get blankets but is startled by the TV turning on, he goes in their bedroom to investigate, but suddenly Katie is in the doorway, without making footsteps.
It appears that when Toby gains full control of his 'vessel' he can take teleport them directly to a certain area or spot, then have them appear out of the 'blue' to further mess with his 'victims' minds.
