Easily said. Actually follow the stories that have been set, in the previous movies. I was not impressed with the closure that this film gave, I was epecting something different stuff. Cameos from Katie, the daughter from the second, daughter and "son" from 4th. The grandmas house. Maybe a national news story following the incidents from the entire series, that would have set up at the beginning.

The only thing in this movie that I thought was right, was the hauntings, and the family.

The movie needed a lot of help, to actually connect it to the series, this movie just felt lost, like it had no direction and it was spun around blind folded and told to walk through a snake pit 28 miles to a safe haven.....that's how disappointing it was.

While I wish your point on the hauntings were true, I think they focused on the Demon's appearance than the hauntings themselves, I don't know, there was nothing ground breaking that topped the kitchen scenes from PA2, PA3 and PA4, just no creativity went into them, they could have done SO much more, though I did like the parts when Toby manifested as the black smoky 'thing' and how it hovered over Leila's bed like Katie hovered over Micah at the end, in fact they could of done more with that by having the black 'smoke' morph into something truly spooky influencing Baphomet imagery, the footage styling also looked too 'Hollywood' when Paranormal activity has always looked like something that actually happened, this movie just looks too cinematic and over the top, and only now am I just realizing this.

Exactly, If chris landon was the director and Gregory plotkin was the editor, it would of had a chance, and chris would of further expanded on the Coven making the deal with Toby like in 3 or the army of possessed males in TMO which wasn't great but still felt like a PA movie, but NONE of that was in it, they pretty much made Toby an Antichrist plot point with no dimension except Holy Water burns him AND they even went with the 666 cliché' when that was something Chris Sander managed to avoid with the development of Toby, he made the Demonic and Religious undertones very subtle and unique, because that's what Toby was, UNIQUE. but his absence ruined it completely ... and let's not forget the time travel ending where Toby is humanized and in 1992, so they sent Toby from the year before Leila or Hunter's births to the year where Leila is already 8 years old and go back to the year before Leila's birth after the family is killed and Toby is humanized in a year where the main BIG stuff of the franchise which happened before and had it not happened what happened couldn't of happened, it BREAKS the entire timeline, and PA3's ending follows the ending of Ghost Dimension right? inter-joined in a sense, after Dennis gets his spine snapped, the years following this has Katie and Kristi reach out to Leila via time portals, but the movies following PA3 like PA2, PA1 to PA4 and TMO couldn't of happened if they managed to give Toby a human body in the years before the movies... What the hell?
