How does the spirit camera see the Ghost Dimension?

I know it's movie logic, but how do you think it allows them to see Toby?

And where do you think it came from?

When Ryan opens up the old camera in the beginning, he notes that it is very complex and unlike anything he'd seen before. He mentions a ring mounted in the front, maybe it was a special aperture ring? https://roshanjoseph45.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/camra.gif

As to where it came from, no clue.

Possible.

Interesting, Where did the box that contained the video camera come from??? Who put it there??

reply

It was not explained, as per usual like everything else that happened in this movie.

More plot-holes and questions than answers. So frustrating.

I would have liked a scene in which they take the camera to an electronics repair place and asked one of the technicians what they think.
With that said, you can look at it this way: the tech behind it is almost irrelevant - the important thing is that the camera literally adds another dimension to the haunting.
My theory is that someone discovered a way - perhaps a substance - that generates photons in the presence of spiritual energy, and was clever enough to harness that capability to generate coherent images for the conventional pickup tubes in the camera, which of course is then recorded on tape.

...and Mrs. Taylor sure seems to use a lotta ice, whenever he's away

Interesting idea.

nonetheless, garbage is still garbage.

As the two male leads note, it has six thingies (I forget what machine part exactly) rather than three! Ooh, like 666! In other words, any nonsense you make up can function as the "explanation," since the movie really doesn't offer any.

reply

That's a fair option.

"I know it's movie logic"

It's not even acceptable on that level, it's just plain stupid.

Zero talent, zero ideas : this is what you get. A ghost camera.
