If you liked 1 - 4, then five should be just fine. I have no idea why some people feel a need to harass fans for a particular franchise. I think that behavior is out of line. I made it clear after Paranormal Activity 3 that if you hated them and yet keep paying to see more, you just lost the logic argument.
This film was just a mess, none of the original Mythology was mentioned, no old characters returning except the younger counterparts of Katie and Kristi, no creative or original scares, just black CGI jumping at the screen, flat acting and boring cast with no extra dimension (pun not intended) except a happy family with no flaws or quirks like the other families as well as emotional tension that helps us connect with the characters more, granted none of the things they went through top the previous movies, but they still managed to keep their composure and emotions checked after what happened? cliché Antichrist plot elements that don't connect to the original Mythology of the first 3 or even 5 (counting The Marked Ones) and instead drives us away from the original premise of witches making a deal with a Demon for wealth and fortune in exchange for the first-born son, where did all this 'born under same moon' nonsense come from? Why wasn't Leila kidnapped after Hunter's kidnapping? where is the demonic army of possessed males? since when was Toby one of these 7 'princes' of Hell? where was Ali Rey? what happened to Alex Nelson? how is Toby human in 1992 when he's in demon form in 2006 haunting Kristi's family then transferred to Katie? How was Hunter taken to 1992? why was there no knowledge of Toby being one of the 7 'princes' of Hell and needing two born under the same moon in the previous movies? where the hell did they even find such knowledge? how did they know it was related to Toby? why didn't people in the family speak about seeing Toby at the pool or when the girl went in the daughter's bedroom and Toby appears behind her and clearly touches her to freak her out, yet a couple of nights ago where the mum saw the angel fall off the tree and thinks there's something in the house, yet the girl just acts like it was just a coincidence, SO many plot holes and paradoxes it is in NO way a true finale to the franchise.
I've seen all five PA. films and didn't worry about plot holes. These films were entertaining enough for me and millions of other people, which is why they could finance five films. People either like all the films or hated most or all the films. The haters should have stopped watching after P.A. 1.
Agreed. Seems like people will keep watching them just to have an excuse to bitch and moan to random people out there.
Same with the Star Wars stuff. People viewed the first prequel as a letdown, yet kept going back for more. It's as if they're honing their trolling skills to be ready for the next one to come out.
They could finance 5 films because these are incredibly cheap films to produce. The fact that people like yourself don't give a *beep* about the gaping plot holes just means you're a sucker for bad writing.

The world isn't nearly that simple, sport. I liked the first one, but everything after was just an attempt to cash in. There's nothing special or creative about any of the movies beyond the first.
I've seen all of these films, but years apart and only one time each, so I barely remember any of the specific mythology. LOL Everything seemed to make sense to me, and I actually liked this one a lot more than most of the previous ones. I thought it was more exciting, scary, and entertaining than the others, that honestly drag most of the time. In fact, I'd say my favorite ones as far as genuine scares are The Marked Ones and The Ghost Dimension. So I guess these films are made for people like me, who don't read too deeply into the mythology and connect the dots that intensely. Hahaha
But even the contents of the film were just awful, the acting and actors/actresses were lacklustre, the CGI turned it into a typical monster movie and the weak finishing of the Mythology? Just terrible, didn't even feel like a paranormal activity continuation, let alone a finale... The Marked Ones was the last drop of their brilliance, before they sold it off to Gregory Plotkin and all these armatures who didn't understand the basics of the franchise to ruin a once top selling and viewed series since 2010 and 2011, it was comparable to a train wreck.
Exactly. This was never intended as Oscar winning films. Just a good basic series without buckets of blood. People who take film way too seriously should just stick to watching the academy award nominated stuff and leave the rest for us.
This movie was NO Paranormal Activity film, full stop, the entire franchise except THIS was perfect, I mean, come on, it doesn't get even near the level of them, it tried but it failed, miserably. And it completely ditched it's main key element that keeps it scary was that what you can't see in the dark is scary, instead it flopped and apparently what you CAN see is more scary than the invisible, the unseen, the force that goes bump in the night, you know, everything that the first film was about? even TMO managed to expand it's storyline outside households to practically the entire World without shattering the logic behind it.
Actually, this film goes against your logic, there was huge amounts of unnecessary gore and things put there just for cliché shock factor, such as the female vomiting over the camera all 'Exorcist' style, the male having a hand burst through his chest in a bloody fashion like the typical monster flick, recycled Antichrist plot elements that have no bearing to the storyline AND have no relation to the established plot elements, the 666 element being the main issue of this, there was NO need for such a cliché story element to be there, it was doing just fine with subtle religious references, it just got too out of hand like a train crash, just, awful. But at least it's not the original teams fault, had it been made by them, it wouldn't of flopped as bad as this did. And that's the Truth.
The people who are complaining now are the same ones who were complaining 3-4 movies ago about how the movies sucked.
Yet here they are, wasting their lives watching movies they hate so they can go online and issue pointless complaints to fans who don't want to hear it.
They need to get a life and hopefully a hobby, one where they aren't making themselves and everyone else miserable.
So true fans of this franchise are people who don't give a *beep* whether a story makes any sense or not? True fans are just suckers for lazy, bad writing?
I made it clear after Paranormal Activity 3 that if you hated them and yet keep paying to see more, you just lost the logic argument.
I'm sorry, but who exactly are you and why do you expect everyone to know what you said regarding PA3?
I don't hate these movies, but they're definitely not well written works of fiction and this last one just doesn't make any damn sense at all.

You just made the ultimate irrational argument. Now go take your meds and stop watching these films so we don't have to read you whining. And P.A. 5 was perfect.
ut who exactly are you
I'm one of the fans that liked all five PA. films. If you didn't then you're on the wrong board. All the P.A. films are pretty much the same. If you hated one, I doubt you truly liked any of them.

Okay everyone, we can just ignore the OP. Their taste in film is awful. They gave A Million Ways to Die in the West a 10\10. Shut this thread down, the OP has no concept of writing or what makes for good fiction.
I wish you would ignore my posts since you're an idiot. And stop trying to speak for others troll.
Take a hike if you're a hater.
All the Paranormal Activity films are pretty much the same. If you hate one, you should hate them all. But if you've watched all five films and didn't particularly like them, then you're an absolute idiot.
