...allowed to sleep by herself? If the parents knew she was being stalked by a demon, why didn't they let their daughter sleep with them instead of being alone in the girl's bedroom?

This was simply a weak addition to the series. There are many questions just like yours that leave even hardcore fans like myself wondering just what in the hell they were thinking.

It's Horror Movies 101. Always make stupid decisions. The killer is on the ground, seemingly dead. WHY would you walk over near them? You heard a bump in the night, and a scream, while alone in your home. WHY investigate? Just call 911! Youtube has videos on the stupidest decisions in horror movies. They are spot on!
