The problem with PA films

Like a lot of people I liked the first one, and the others are ok for a cheap thrill if you're bored in the evenings.
Obviously the films are massively profitable, but I think they fail on a storytelling perspective because, quite frankly, 30 minutes after the end of each movie I completely forget the names and faces of the characters. So any story arc over the last 10 years is pretty much impossible to follow. I think the main reasons are:

#1 The films aren't really re-watchable. So they aren't going to be imprinted on your memory.
#2 Unknown actors. Every time a character from a previous film is shown I have no clue who it was because I forgot their face. And when their names are referenced I have no recollection because of #1

These points may not be avoidable, especially #2 because of the low budget.

Unless your a guy who loved the franchise so much you watch the films multiple times... or you have an eidetic memory... in the intervening years between films most people are going to forget character names, faces of unknown actors and small plot details. So the long story arc is delivered in these confusing little fragments that aren't possible to piece together unless you watch the whole series back to back. And I think very few people will be willing to do that.

Totally agree

I like the concept of the witches coven and I really like those parts but I do agree the way they keep jumping around all over the place makes this franchise hard to follow. I think they need some extra writers or something. I felt like the storyline was getting pretty intresting and then this movie falls flat. I hope this isn't the last. It seems such a letdown.

This movie did mostly wrap up the series, but... Where is Hunter? Why was he featured so prominently on the other movies but left out of this one? It was mentioned that Toby needed both Leila and Hunter to acquire his "human" form, so where was the boy? And why did this movie end back in 1992 when Katie and Kristi were kids, and Leila shouldn't have been born yet? Where did adult Katie go, and how did she lose track of Hunter between ages 1 and 8, hence his adoption and name change (Wyatt)? And back to the ending; yes, they finally show Toby in shadowy ghost form, but what's up with showing only his legs and hand once he has a body? I will say that the movie was better than I was expecting after the negative reviews I've read. But obviously I think it presented more questions than it answered. Sorry for the novel, I was just curious about other fans' take on the end of this franchise.

I watch the PA movies often. But i know what you mean. You have to watch them all back to back and get a note book to take notes. I never did that but always wanted to. Haha

If the PA movies aren't watchable... why did you watch them?

I said re-watchable. Try to concentrate.
