Good yarn

The Adam Project is a decent time travel flick with some interesting visuals and good acting but overall never crossed over to something great.

The visuals are a good treat with great lighting and sharp visual acuity in night and day scenes. The house was nice but the backyard which is a forest was super eerie. I don't know how anyone could really live there without spooking out nightly.

The story was fun but the same trope as other movies - good father invents time travel, his partner does shady shit with it by going back in time and changing the past etc., the son grows up and gets revenge. Add in a heroine and voila. A movie. Toss in hero as a kid at same time and bravo.

The kid was a good actor and did not come off as annoying or irritating. Many kids cross into the annoying category always. He did not. Ryan Reynolds was good but it's Ryan Reynolds. His range is Ryan Reynolds. His acting level is Ryan Reynolds. He is Ryan Reynolds.

Jennifer Garner was good in her cameo but her face looks...off. Mark Ruffalo was good but a bit...off and weird imo. The female villain was laughably bad and cartoony.
Also, Gamora was good imo but she did not need to die or sacrifice herself. Also how did the villains keep getting so many henchmen nonstop to sacrifice themselves like Red shirts easily. At the end as well she could've just bombed them out but didn't easily and the Adams could've easily helped and taken them out but no. Plus she didn't need to stay back. They could've all just jumped in that time ship and wormholed out and changed history. Why let Gamora stay back? Makes no sense.

The whole final segment was tbh quite amateurish like say a child's movie like Spy Kids or such - very CGI'y and cartoony. Filled with silliness like super EMF and magentization attracts thing very oddly. Bullets fired at ridiculous speeds curve out mid flight etc. defying established physics.

Also, they changed the future so many times and created so many divergent timelines so Mark Ruffalo dying again makes no sense given the future is completely altered. Each change is a new timeline and original is erased so there is no timeline yet where Mark Ruffalo dies in a car accident again. That part is so easy to pick up as a glaring plot hole.

Overall though, I like time travel movies and I liked this too.

Final rating: 7/10

7/10 would be fairly overrated, imho, 5/10 at best
there's so much wrong with this movie. even small moments, like the scene when reynolds punches his father on the campus. so a professor gets punched and students just walk by and don't even look what's going on?!

6/10.

Couple of things I thought more were -

* how is it that the old Maya disappeared when the machine exploded with young Maya but somehow old and young Adam still were around for some time before both disappeared? What governed that and how?
* I already mentioned the odd magnetization behavior (bullet in the gun doesn't get super attracted to the core but once fired it does at high speed. what?) but what about all the other metal and other stuff on the people? How is that those things display weird magnetic behavior?

I still maintain the silliness of the movie and yet it is is fun enough to still remain entertaining. (switch your brain off type movie clearly)
