What were they thinking making this PG-13?

Couldn't believe it when the commercial ended and it said it was PEEE-GEEE THIR-TEEEN.

The directors are LDS (Mormon) so in general they don't make R rated films because most Mormons choose not to watch R rated films. There are exceptions like Blair Witch Project (1999) and The Gallows, which were both R, but the latter film was really a PG-13 and the directors whom I know personally tried and tried several times to get Gallows cut down to PG-13, but it was no longer their descision at that point because New Line had the rights and full control over the films rating, and even they agreed it was PG-13, but decided to keep it R, because in general R rated horror films do better, ironically that back fired on them because people were expecting it to be a R rated film and were angry it was really PG-13. So since the directors of this film are both Mormons, they wanted to keep it PG-13.
