Mixed feelings about the film

The first 40 minutes of the film was tediously boring, I almost stopped watching - but glad I stuck with it. Most of the rest of the movie was quite charming, and even with a predictable ending, I was glad to see the two main characters finally end up together (as well as their parents!)
As for the age difference, I didn't notice it too much. They looked around the same age and the girl from the Wonder Years looks young.
So definitely mixed feelings about the film - the first 40 minutes especially was way too long and it didn't really pick up until Sam brought home another girlfriend - but overall pretty good. I'd watch again next year.

I agree. I was pleasantly surprised by this film. I love romantic comedies and tend to watch all the various Christmas movies that are churned out each year. I really enjoyed this one. I agree that the beginning was like "Come on already!" but, when they got going it was very good. You couldn't really tell the age difference, and since it is acting I don't think it makes too much a difference unless it was blatant. I was very impressed with Dustin Milligan's performance(sorry, I haven't seen him in anything else) and Danica McKellar did a great job.

Their parents "didn't get together". His parents were alive, well and happy with each other.

Lea Thompson's character confused me a bit the first time I saw it, I thought at one point she was Sam's mom. But she obviously wasn't, lol.

I liked the last 30 and the first 30. The middle 30 were the worst 30. I rhyme all the time.

The dance scene is one of my favorite in any movie, but I seem to forget how great it is from the moment Danicka gets her father engaged, seeing the cardboard house and the excellent proposal.

This movie tends to grow on you I find, the proposal scene was the best.
