This should be its own film and not a sequel to VHS. I watched the original last night and was extremely disappointed. It was extremely bland, cheap, lazy, and felt like a bunch of high school kids made the segments. I really didn't like it. I just finished the sequel and I am really really impressed. It was definitely not perfect, but the quality, the entertainment factor, and the originality (well, at least compared to the first one) was an almost unbelievable improvement over the original.

I'm not the biggest fan of found-footage horror films (some of the Paranormal Activity films had decent moments, but found footage films usually drag up until the last few minutes. The ending of the Blair Witch Project was very creepy, but the rest of the film was somewhat boring.), but I really enjoyed it, and it may be my favorite found footage movie. It's not the scariest, but it was entertaining.

honeymoonavenue I don't remember the original but will watch it again soon after seeing the last two because I wonder if it was much better than these. Let me say though that this was better than the latest that came out. I liked the stories more in this one and I like the way this one wrapped up the movie. Now I think it is still pretty crazy that these tapes can make people go insane and act that way as it isn't like the girl was subjected to thousands of tapes but hey I guess there is some sort of subliminal message in the tapes being played while watching them and it makes the people go crazy. One thing I will say with this movie and the latest is that they are not sticking to tech that was around when people were using VHS and so it kind of ruins the films. Anyway I got more films to watch. Bye.
