LOUD NOISES!!

If you want to scare your audience, please keep the following in mind:

1. Ultra-loud jump-scare audio ALWAYS SCARES PEOPLE! DO NOT QUESTION THIS

2. The concept of someone seeing hostile/unfriendly ghosts is completely original, and the like has never been done before...a hundred-thousand times.

3. Zombies has in fact, not been overdone and ran completely into the ground. It's not like we have a *beep* TV SHOW called The Walking Dead, which contains enough zombies to fill eons of viewer boredom.

4. Aliens, Aliens, Aliens....Well, Aliens with ultra loud train-horn noises. This is scary, and anyone watching an alien come at you with it's arms outstretched like Frankenstein's monster is incredibly scary. Again, do not deny this. Zombie alien's maybe?

5. A crazy cult that commits mass suicide at a certain time and date? That sounds familiar. Not scary though.... How about a woman that gives birth to an evil demonic baby. Nah, not scary, and it's been done before. How about a laughable full-sized goatcowman baby? Now that's scary.

I suppose that if you were to somehow come down with a severe case of amnesia, that erased all your knowledge of all the overdone movie cliche's you've seen over the years, this might become kinda scary. Kinda.

This movie was fairly boring and unoriginal. I credit the first movie with greater entertainment value, because it had more variety in the segments. Anyone else agree? I'm sorry, but Zombies, possession, ghosts....wooden aliens...LOUD NOISES!...not scary. I do like the concept of these films, I really hope the third installment is better.

I don't think highly of these movies but don't act like you can be more original.

lol what? I'm simply pointing out the lack of originality in this movie, since these scare tactics and horror concepts have been done before(many times). Calling attention to this has nothing to do with my own creativity or originality in my career field. I'm not a filmmaker, nor do I plan to be. I'm simply someone addressing the rather trite concepts this movie contains.

I'm just saying that just because zombies and aliens were done before doesn't mean they shouldn't stop making them. not saying that they executed it well here though.

I agree with you in most of them. But the cult one was fun (yeah, actually is the purpose of he whole show - what about the thumbs up to the camera by the chin-less guy at the end?), but the zombie one was really clever. In that segment we follow the story from the infected perspective. I believe I've seen that before, but again, is somethig not very well explored.
Now the aliens one was a pain in he ass. They are not subtle, but at least they are not afraid of water.

I did not think VHS2 was very loud and I thought the zombie segment, was a nice twist on a old trope. The only minor complaint I have is the wraparound story. Pretty sure we saw a similar trope in The Ring. From what I'm reading, the third installment of VHS is disappointing.

V/H/S Viral is far worse. What an abomination... had low expectations before watching and they still managed to fck them right up!

I liked them both. The first one Phukt with me more tho.

Virtually every movie is going to have some similarities with a previous movie so when people complain something is unoriginal it makes no sense.
