The Blair Witch Project approach

I was completely excited to watch this movie until I found out that it was shot as if through a home camera. I put off watching the movie for months just because of it. Now five minutes into the movie, and I don't know if I'll be able to finish it. The panning in and out, bouncing all around, sloppy camera work is F'ing annoying as hell. Another promising movie spoiled by this cheap ass approach. Please tell me there are others out there who hope this trend gets the reputation it deserves as sloppy and unprofessional.

My sentiments exactly. The found footage format is the perfect excuse for pathetic filming. It was innovative with the "Blair Witch Project" but the novelty has long since worn off.

I hate these types of movies, i usually immediately stop them. I call it "A Shakey Camera Movie". Very much like a porno, camera wont be still. It royally sux. Heads cut off, dialog jumps around, i dont see why they keep doing these. Only saw one movie that was any good with this technique.

I hate that faux verite/faux home movie style, too. I actually liked this film overall, but the "Blair Witch" approach made me want to shoot my TV. It was a weird dichotomy for me.

I hate home movie type films with an absolute passion.

I can't even watch this cos of how it was shot.

Add me to the list. I saw the description and thought it was an interesting premise. I saw it had a $12 million budget, and then after 10 minutes I wondered:
Where did the $12M go? No big name actors (low budget salaries) and shaky-cam footage (low budget equipment).
