No one ever has the right to out anyone homosexual

Really put off by Rae after watching the latest episode. Can't believe she thought it was her right to out Archie, just because he was dating a girl.

Someones sexual orientation is their own business and no one has the right to out someone else no matter the circumstances. It was his choice to date a girl and yes maybe that isn't fair to the girl but people have relationships for all sorts of reasons and it's up to them how they choose to go about things.

It's really dangerous to out someone as gay, especially during the 90's when gay people were really discriminated against, bullied, beaten up, or even killed. He might not of been very honest about being gay, but that's because during that time period you couldn't be open about it. Even today LGBT people continue to be victimised in society.

It was extremely wrong of her to out him like that. Being outed could ruin a persons life, which is far worse then him trying to fit in by dating girls to conceal his sexuality.

I hope this bites her on the ass. I agree this put me off on Rae, but that's why i love the show. She's not the perfect teen you can relate with. She's flawed. She failed to realize the repercussions of her actions.

I also love how Finn is being betrayed. After his serenade to Rae, he's so cute and you forgive his laughing at Rae's expense in the previous episode but being sorry doesn't mean people change their actions. Hiding his sexuality is making him into a liar douche, but's he's got no choice. Only in lame programs does the gay character come out and everything gets better for him, the reality is he's going to be ostracized, especially in the college and in the mid 90s. The show is very honest that way, so even though i haven't seen ep 4, i want to see Archie fall into despair and Rae feeling the guilt of it.

Yup, just thought the same and went here to see if anyone wrote anything about it. :D
I never really liked Rae's personality, I could never hang out or be friends with someone like her in real life. She can be such a mean bi*** without a reason.
But this was particularly terrible and intolerable.

I agree that Rae should not have outed Archie like that. She didn't give him enough time to explain the situation to Lois before just blurting it out. With that being said, Archie was wrong for telling Lois he loved her. I think Rae felt that she was doing it for the best interest of Archie and Lois, but she didn't think her decision through enough. Not to give too much away, but Rae does realize how wrong she was in the next episode.

If your safety, mental and physical, literally depends on it, it's absolutely justified. Wrong, but justified and no one has the right judge people in this situation. So, yes, you can and SHOULD use people to protect yourself.

I have just seen this episode (2X03) and I come to the boards just to see if someone had pointed this out. Rae is really selfish and self-centered the whole show but this moment with Archie just got me so angry. That is not friendship and she(for sure)was not being supportive with him. She had no right to do that. Pushing someone to come out? Really girl? That's not the way to work it out.

Rae always portraits herself as the victim, but she's been so mean to almost everyone around her that right now I am really mad.

As harsh as it was I can understand why Rae did it. She didn't want Archie leading the girl on like he did her. She could have handled it a bit better.
