Watched the whole eight episodes.

It was alright and I'll probably come back to it for season two. Apart from the show being made for 10 to 14 year olds I was critical of the acting. But having watched the whole thing that was probably being a bit harsh on the actors. I think because the show is pitched at youngsters the characters are simplified.

So Ben Barnes plays his General Kirigan the immortal arch villain by sticking his nose in the air and looking imperious most of the time. Jessie Mei Li as the heroine Alina Starkov spends a lot of time expressing her feelings with her body language when being afraid or compassionate and so on. But after watching her through the whole show I think she is a good actress. She has range and she is appealing.

I think the show would have benefited from more of the back story being explored in the first few episodes. And how about some maps and giving the viewers an idea of who comes from where and what is happening where. That would have helped. Otherwise though it looks great and if you like fantasy it's worth a watch.
