Would you have done the same? *SPOILERS*

I was quite puzzled by the ending at first, to go through all that and see some good people die only to protect the village that killed your friends and would of mutilated you...it just left me scratching my head. But the more I thought about it, the more I see why she did it....the tribe probably thought they were working for the bulldozing company so they found what they were doing was protecting themselves....although in a very vile and terrible way...but they were brought up to realize that cannibalism is a way of life, plus Alejandro was quite a manipulator and she knew this obviously.

Again this left me very 50/50. I found Justine's nightmare was her feeling guilty that she left Alejandro there, then I saw the mid credit scene and obviously Alejandro is their new chief or something...so I wonder if there will be a second one.

I view it the same way. And I think it also saves you a lot of drama regarding cannibalism and "what happened?" And she accomplished her mission of saving the village.

reply

Yeah absolutely, I definitely saw it as her "accomplishing her mission" as well but what left me confused at first was whether or not if the village was still worth saving after everything they did....but back to my points, the village probably didn't see themselves killing innocent people....to me the whole thing was quite a thinker near the end...which I liked because it forced me to examine the movie as a whole, not just see it as some college students in another predicament. I can't say I would of done the same thing or not...I wouldn't want people to be killed for just doing what they saw as protecting themselves...although again they did do it in an incredibly vile and merciless way....but they probably saw the logging company taking down their home and overall environment as something vile and merciless.

I really think she saved the village because if she doesn't then every person that died, died for nothing. It was the only way she could honor them. If she let's the village be destroyed for living their way of life, then it's just more death. Her guilt over Alejandro is what I couldn't understand. He used every single one of them, risked everyone's life just to make a bigger name for himself.
