Um how about the scene she gets washed away by the river??

Most pointless scene ever. How can you just jump into rushing waters and disappear? That was foolish as hell for her. And I don't understand why the scene was in place at all. Nothing happened afterwards, you would think that would cause the natives to catch up to them or something. But nothing happens afterwards! It was such a pointless scene!

She didn’t jump into rushing waters, they were wading across without trouble, but she fell into a sink-hole and got carried away by the undertow.

I can’t argue as to the scene’s necessity (or lack thereof), but it certainly made me think that they should have just grabbed a log and floated down the river at a rapid clip rather than slowly plod along on foot.

I think the scene just set up a comparison to how normal people act when they see somebody in trouble vs douche bag Alejandro and his girlfriend. Like when his girlfriend totally knew Justine's lock wasn't working and when neither of them flinched when a gun was pointed at her head.

Oh okay I suppose that makes sense. The scene otherwise didn't have anything to m rippin first viewing, it was like a quick undeveloped suspense scene but nothin came of it lol. I like your interpretation though

That scene did seem unnecessary and hard to believe. I think it was included to pay homage to Mountain of the Cannibal God.
