This movie wasn't even THAT gory. It was pretty tame!

I thought it was going to be insane, but nope, I mean what's the big deal on the death scenes? I mean I feel Hostel II was worse.

reply

Yes, I came away from it feeling it was tame and lame. I think the ending was crappy. And I don't get why she lied.

reply

Not gory? You got to be a troll. It was extremely gory. Did you not see how they cut open that guy and ate him in a gruesome way.

reply

hahaha no man, not at all. I'm being totally honest here, it didn't seem that gory I mean, well the day before I saw George Romero's Day of the Dead, and in comparison, the gore was pretty much on the same level so it wasn't something that hadn't been done before.

reply

An average episode of The Walking Dead can have more gore than Green Inferno did.
The only scene that was even close to gratuitous was the eye gouging/tongue cutting.
Somehow Roth has hyped his way into this reputation for extreme gore and it's just nonsense.

reply

Exactly. You can see this stuff on television. The film pushes no boundaries at all.

Yep. American Horror Story did eye-gouging 2 seasons ago.

reply

It's pretty tame after watching tons of 80s Italian horror. I'm pretty much desensitized at this point.

reply

The first dude they eat... gets pretty gory. The problem is that there are 50 more minutes without any other scene getting to that level. Anyway, it doesn't take out the f'd up feeling, I think. But as a gorehound, I wouldn't mind some more fun.

The review I saw when I came to this page sums it up perfectly for me (and was also my biggest issue with the film) "it certainly has its fair share of gory violence. But it has less impact than it should because of the silly jokey tone that permeates it".

It was like having the scariest looking movie monster ever designed then showing it just wander into shot in full daylight as opposed to jump suddenly from the shadows.

reply

I tend to agree. I didn't find any of it so scray that I needed to look away. Maybe the eyes being taken out from the first victim but that was about the only squeamish moment I felt.

The storyline sounded scary but something in the balance of the movie kept me from really being drawn into it.

It really wasn't that gory imo and like other have said, even primetime broadcast tv like the walking dead have similar amounts of gore. They just showed a few deaths (plane crash related, fat guy and suicide). The fat guy was comical since he was screaming long past when he would be dead and reminded me of Monty Python's "just a nick" when the knights arms and legs have been all cut off. Plus the clean cut of the leg at the knee was a joke…it all looked so fake. I was way more grossed out by the guy wanking at the suicide girl.

I concur and if you look up the movie on Twitter and read reactions... Many people clearly haven't seen many movies. Lol. (The disgust is amazing for a pretty tame movie)
