The Green Inferno vs Cannibal Holocaust

The Green Inferno is currently at the top of my Netflix queue. Just last week, I watched Cannibal Holocaust and found it to be more than just a bit of a letdown because of all the hype ("Oh, My God, It's The Goriest Movie Ever Made!," etc.). How does The Green Inferno compare to Holocaust? From what I've already read, the acting in Inferno is atrocious. I can live with that. I guess what I really want to know is, which film is gorier?

reply

Holocaust is gorier, more brutal, and darker in tone.
Inferno was a bit too silly in places, and I was expecting more mayhem.

Inferno also took a full hour to get all the dumb flucking asss holes on the damn plane and over to Cannibal Disney World.

reply

Actually...go watch Umberto Lenzis' Cannibal Ferox. Everyone compares Holocaust to Inferno, but clearly Roth was heavily "inspired" by Ferox. Even down to the resolution....

reply

Holocaust is straight up morbid. The tone is very subdued and builds into a climax right at the very end, with no come down.

They committed some pretty horrendous things in the filming of CH but I'm not going to tell you it's not an evocative cannibal flick.

Green Inferno is just confused. Eli tries too hard to jam some totally randomwtf comedy scenes in there that are incredibly jarring to the tone and tempo of the story.

reply

Cannibal Holocaust is better, both in terms of gore, writing and thematically.

reply

If you can't appreciate Cannibal Holocaust, you probably won't appreciate any cannibal movies, except maybe Man From Deep River.

reply

Cannibal Holocaust. Inferno sucks.
