Go away Agent Rice. Just go away.

This guy is disobeying his boss' orders. He is stalking a fellow agent on a hunch. He's a prick in the side of this show. The show is perfectly entertaining, except his persistent nosy character poking around things where he doesn't belong. "The head of that department came and told me to drop the case, this *beep* must be big". Or.. or.. It could mean that your stalking of the agent is putting him and every mission they have at risk, because your gonna blow his cover at some point. And now he's got Ali Larter's character helping him. Annoying. I hope this character does not end up getting transferred into Martin's department eventually, because "He is a really good cop" or some BS. He deserves to be fired, not a promotion.

Insubordination is the name of the game on this show. Martin goes off on his own. Tina Majorino's character lies to her boss. Agent Rice. Have I missed anyone?

Yeah, but they're part of an undercover team, and Martin's insubordination is under constant review. They're only allowing him to continue because they keep running into these fpcon delta situations. Also we actually like them.

Rice is just the typical side antagonist character. He's supposed to be a normal by the book agent, so why does he disobey orders in the first place, and why is he not sooo fired the moment his female bureau superior finds out? In the old boy's network that is the FBI, she HAS to make an example out of him for challenging her authority.

Also, what does he find so godd@mn confusing? Need to know is the watchword, and he knows Martin is covert. The camera that would show the stabbing is mysteriously out of order. Does this guy really think Martin is a suspect, out is that just a dodge so he can risk covert counter-terrorist operations for personal curiosity?

Anyway, this annoying, kinda dumb a-hole needs to first be fired in disgrace, then when he somehow tries to keep screwing things up without a badge, as these characters always seem to be written, his body needs to end up in a dumpster. Maybe by someone Martin is targeting, in a way that further cements his cover.

This show is very promising, but they need to get rid of hacky tropes like this. This is the new Golden Age of television, you can't be phoning it in.

Rice is an instrument for the writers to tell Martin Odum's story. Eventually, Martin and Maggie will run out of leads and into dead ends without exposing themselves. Rice's intrusion adds tension and maybe knocks down a few vases that hold secrets to help Martin's quest.

The man has balls! He walks into his boss' office, knowing he's disregarded her orders and protocol, and briefs her on his progress anyway. I like the guy. he's slick, arrogant and is helping reveal a lot about the supporting cast.

This character needs to die. He is unrealistic, unpleasant to watch, and a very poorly constructed plot device. Just kill him off, already.

He is terrible. I want to like this show, but I find myself being drawn to Modern Family. This crap writing is really getting to me

Yes! Now I know what I don't like about him!

And have you seen the most recent episode with him partnering up with Martin? I thought I'd missed something, especially when Martin was told Agent Rice was now working in their department and he said, "just don't make me work with him."

I know! I was like, "Did I miss an episode or two where this guy's entire arc was resolved and shifted?" I mean, I figured this would be the end result for him, but the way they did it was...well, abrupt. And that's being charitable.

I'm so glad you started this thread! I thought Rice was out of line, self important and cheeky. He had no business insinuating hmself in the business "upstairs", and I don't know how he got himself a seat at the table "upstairs". So, I was just getting used to him, he's a good cop and a team player. But, I am about halfway through the last episode and he is again insisting on knowing "what's going on" and I am again finding him tiresome.

He's a complete idiot. They're called the DCO for a reason. For all he knows, he could be blowing an important cover. He's as irritating a character as I've ever seen, and totally unrealistic.

Plus Chestnut is not a very convincing actor. If it's not him getting on my nerves, it's Maggie's punk rock hair-do.

It's a difficult show to watch. Not sure if I'll make it through the whole season.
