there are some things i need to know:

first of all I am not American, so I am curious about certain things:

1. There certainly have been many high profile murders and crime cases in the US. Those that have reached legendary status, even catapult the murderers and their victims to "superstar" status.

Is there a real life case of Libby Day, who actually make a living off the donations of well-wishers, as in that is all they do? They "write" books and just live off their tragedy?

2. Are there real Kill Clubs, that have helped to solve crime? Or is it just something fictional within the book/movie?

Thanks for answering! As much as the "whodunnit" element of the story is interesting, i think i found the premise even more so. There were a few moments where I went, "wow are there actually people who live like this??"

I played a member of the kill club in the movie, I wish I'd asked Gillian Flynn that day on set if there are real kill clubs. I know there are organizations that work to free people who have been wrongfully imprisoned and are on death row, so I suppose the answer to your question is yes or sort of.

I don't know any case of any person only living off the money they made from writing about their surviving a tragedy.Elizabeth Smart maybe ?? Can anyone else answer this one ??
