In 80's nobody had that kind of emo hair. Not satanists nor metalheads.

too bad. I haven't seen the movie but the book made a big deal of describing Diondra's overly hair-sprayed spiral perm. I was looking forward to seeing some good 80's hair.

I don't get why they freaked out when the kid took his beenie off. Short hair is what parents freaked out about back then.

It was cause he dyed his hair black not because it's short. He was supposed to be a natural red head

I kinda figured it wasn't because his hair was short. It's now jet black. It's been a while since I read the book, so I forgot.

First off, it's '80s, not 80's.
Anyway, they actually portrayed the metalheads quite well. Your reference to the "hair" thing would be more of a preppy thing.
