Another disappointment from IMDb ''User Reviews''.....spoiler...

I try to watch films only with Imdb average rating 7 or higher, unless it's a horror flick withch I give disadvantage of 1 or 2 points.
This is Imdb average rate 6.4 with fabulous ''User Reviews''.

Going in, I knew Ben was innocent.
The whole point of the film was supposed to be WHY Ben is NOT guilty.
Turns out it was to protect his, or is it?, unborn child.
Really stupid.

Another disappointment from IMDb ''User Reviews''.
Used to be more accurate.

Besides the fabulous cast, it's barely worth 5 materials.

I, am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.

1. Don't watch movies based on the IMDb scores. There's too much fanboys and haters.

2. Don't watch movies based on "User reviews". See 1.

3. Watch movies and decide what you think.

4. The issue was not did Ben did it, but more: What really happened?

5. What are materials?

reply

What the heck are you talking about??
I know how to filter (at least to some degree) one sided review and buzz and trolls.

1, 2, 5. Then WHERE do you get information about films BEFORE you decide you wanna watch them?

3. Then what do you do if you are mortal and have limited time on hands and can't watch ALL the flicks out there, wanna filter what you watch?

4. That's YOUR opinion, don't impose them upon others, whether they are right or wrong.

IMDb is one of the most popular and the biggest films sites on earth!!!
And it's "User reviews" tend to be more accurate than ''message boards'', maybe because it requires a certain length to post.

Genre mostly. Then directors. Then critics. Then actors. I don't really know to be honest. I just go. Never watch trailers.

I haven't seen a lot of films I probably should have seen. You are right. Can't see them all.

I'm not imposing anything. Just think that was how the movie was set up.

I barely read the user reviews, they are mostly either biased or stupid. A popular site attracts many people, writing whatever is in their interest...

Still don't know what materials are :P

Word.

Why don't you just view movies that interest you, not movies that get high scores from complete strangers...

reply

Even with extensive research beforehand, you can't never completely know a flick will interest you until you actually see it.

Why are horror flicks an exception?

reply

I don't know.
But as a horror fan, over a long period of observation, I noticed a tendency that horror flicks usually get 1 or 2 points lower rating than I think they should deserve than ''regular?'' films.
Guess there are viewers who simply can't stomack horror in general and give low rates, like the girl I'm currently seeing.

reply

Another example, did you ever notice that TV shows tend to get more generous rating than feature films?
The all time Imdb number one ranking feature film ''The Shawshank Redemption'' is only 9.2, while there are many TV shows that's over that, such as ''Game of Thrones 9.5'', ''Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey 9.4'', ''True Detective 9.3''.

I guess viewers get more satisfactions from TV shows because they run far more than 2-3 hours, usually in the comfort of their own home.

reply

There's another reason for that. Some people rate a show based on just 1 season, while others wait until it's over to calculate an average. A lot of people rate the show before the current season is over.

reply

Well Ben was a bigger idiot in the book lol. They actually made him semi likeable here.

I think you weren't supposed to be sure if he did it.

reply

I'm with you, especially when it comes to pay per view movies. On top of it, this one was like the 2nd mislabeled genre, and I want to watch what I expect to see.
