So we are totally supposed to forget?

A third of the way through the book, Libby Day is 31, 4' 10", D cup boobs, red haired, and missing toes and part of a finger. Yeah when I think of it, Charlize Theron would of been my first choice.

Yeah cause you're not allowed to change anything from the book when you do an adaptation. Charlize Theron is not only a huge name and a fantastic actress, but a producer on the film.... Did you know that in the book of Jaws, Hooper (Dreyfuss) almost sleeps with Brody's wife and Quint is drowned not eaten? And you're complaining that her appearance is different.

BIG FRIGGIN DEAL

Amy Adams was originally cast as Libby Day but due to conflicting schedules with another movie she had to drop out and Charlize Theron was re-cast and I don't see Amy Adams being able to do the role any better than CT cause she did very good

I'm gonna refuse you an offer you can't make

Amy Adams would have been a bit better. If you had to go with someone famous i'd say a ginger Ellen Page would be the closest you could get. But I think they should have just gone with an unknown.

It's an adaptation dude.

You have a point about the physical deformities... but I doubt that having big boobs is key to the psychology of who she is as a person! Some people just demand slavish devotion to the source material for the sake of it. I haven't read that Gillian Flynn is mad about it being changed, and since she's the author, her opinion is the one that really matters.

I know! Especially since the target audience for the movie was the 237 people who read the book!!

I'd be more concerned by this casting had I not watched Young Adult, in which she plays a mentally unstable and damaged 30-something, and does so superbly. I suppose the difference is that in YA, the fact that she's a beautiful woman is part of her character and to an extent the story, and just makes it all the more tragic.

As others have pointed out, Libby's limp, missing fingers (that are impossible to hide and would attract attention and, for those who know, instantly mark her as Libby) and short stature are a huge factor.

After typing my first paragraph, I'm thinking Charlize would have made a great adult Krissi Cates (although Adrianna also seems perfect for the role)
