why does marty stein want the general to go down?
Also, I just started watching the episode where grace died. Is there any connection to the original concept at all?

shareIf you start by watching season 3 then it will not make much sense. I agree with those that really like season 1 with the characters Jimmy and Alec but to eachs own.
shareWell can you define the "original concept"? It was pretty unclear in season 2 already. Even back in season 1, there was a Grace-centered plot, sure, but a concept? Nope.

Wasn't the general trying to take town Marty at first, and Ethan told him what the plan was.
shareBasically because the General tried to take Marty down first. He sent in Ethan to get dirt on Marty so that they could take Marty down. Marty found out and was pissed at that betrayal.
In regards to your question about original concept, no, not really. But I agree with the other posters, the "original concept" never really made it beyond the first season. Sincet then, the only common thread seems to be each season someone goes undercover, pretends to be someone else. But there is no cohesive concept of a "rogue" anymore.
