Do undercover cops go home to tuck in the kids?

Thats the one isuue that caused me to withdraw from the show.

Going undercover in such a male orientated, Macho, drug fuelled, late night world, it would be hard to imagine she would be able to clock off and go home lke that.

No they don't normaly they are issued a undercover address. They pretty much live a whole second life while they are undercover. This is to keep them and their families safe.

On the other hand, if you want to see a show that's really ridiculous about undercover life, check out Graceland. It's so stupid, those "undercover" cops all live in a big house together (just so they all get burned if one of them goes down I guess) and spend their time parading around in FBI or DEA windbreakers out in the open.

C'mon, talking about ridiculous...in Miami Vice, Crockett and Tubbs worked out of an "undercover police station" filled with uniformed officers. Where they marched back and forth with guns and badges in front of criminals under arrest. And yet somehow their covers were never blown.

Graceland is actually based on true events.

The federal government took over a house like that from a drug lord and turned it into one big undercover operation that lasted for several years.

While the cases they work on the show are not identical to what really happened, the overall idea and living conditions are all based on real events.

None of them were ever burned and the cases they worked rarely ever required them to bring high value targets anywhere near the house. It was a casual cover so that if they were ever followed it looked like they were returning home to a known drug dealers house.

From what I understand, as someone mentioned, being undercover is like living two separate lives. UCs have an undercover address and we do see "Jackie's" throughout the series.

However, depending on the type of assignment, UCs do get to go home occasionally. Which seemed to be the case in the first episode. Grace told her husband she just had to see them or something. Though, I'm sure in real life there's probably more involved with going home for real UCs than changing cars.

Anyway, other than the first ep, Grace is never officially undercover. She's on suspension. (I guess that's where the title "Rogue" comes from.) And the guy she's hiding her real ID from knows who she is, where she shops and where she lives. After she's burned, she only becomes "Jackie" off and on to meet with him. So there's no reason for her not to go home at night. Or be "Grace" most of the time.

She didn't really want to go home. By the way ever happened to her husband?

reply

No. It would be insane to do so.
