One of the best films of the year

Mudbound (2017) is a Netflix original film, directed by Dee Rees. The film is about two families, one white and one black, in post World War 2 Mississippi. Mudbound is a powerful, at times devastating, but ultimately rewarding work of art. The screenplay is beautifully written and the cast is excellent. Especially good are Garrett Hedlund and Jason Mitchell as two soldiers who form an unlikely friendship that puts them both in danger. I really enjoyed the interactions between these two. Jonathan Banks is also fantastic as a hateful man consumed by prejudice. Carey Mulligan and May J Blige also offer great supporting performances. Mudbound is certainly one of the best films of the year and is available now to watch on Netflix. It deserves serious Oscar consideration. 9/10
