Theory on Cap and Mjölnir
My daughter's boyfriend hypothesizes Cap couldn't lift mjölnir because he was keeping that secret from Tony about his parents death.

I think he could lift it, but just pretended not to so as not to show up Thor.
shareIt was meant as a joke, nothing more. Thor's face, when Cap made Mjolnir move a bit, was priceless, but Cap wasn't withholding because Thor's feelings etc., he simply wasn't worthy enough.
That scene in Endgame, Cap lifting Mjolnir, was not planned in 2013-14.
I'd wager it was. Captain America has lifted Mjolnir a couple times in the comics, and while in 2013 Kevin Feige certainly didnt know Cap would use the hammer to fight Thanos, I'm sure it was mentioned that at some point he'd lift that puppy.
The real question is, does Zack Snyder already have a scene in mind for when Superman and/or Wonder Woman lift Mjolnir, because they've both used Thor's hammer in the comics at some point as well...
