Damn, what a movie
I don't think I've ever seen a film on a scope as gigantic as this.
The action scenes and the CGI were mindblowing... truly an experience, I will definitely watch this a couple times in the cinema. Great film.

The gigantic scope seems to be the one thing people either love or hate about this movie. Not hearing a lot of other complaints, except that the film feels too similar to the previous Avengers.
shareI can understand that, but I got exactly what I wanted from the movie. The plot was strong enough, Ultron was interesting, actually more interesting as an evil Stark than the classic boring "Surrender, human. Extermination initiated" murder bot that we've seen a thousand times. For an A.I., he was oddly charming.
People might complain about too much action and little story telling, but I think that's the way the Avengers movies are really meant to be. We had the entire phase leading up to this spectacle, now the main showdown happens.
And I have to admit that for a 2.5 hours long movie, it completely flew by. The pacing was incredibly fast except for that one sequence on the farm, which felt like a decent break. I do think some additional minutes with a slower pace would have helped so I'll be looking forward to the extended edition, but the film we got is still solid and I have to say the action set pieces, each and every one, were very, very impressive.
"Language."
Make sure none of us cusses around here in honor of Cap. Make a note.
Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Interstellar, Apocalypse Now, Ben-Hur, Avatar and I would argue that even The Winter Soldier, if you want another Marvel flick in there, had bigger scope. And that's just off the top of my head.
Glad you enjoyed it, though.
I've seen all of those and I honestly think that Age of Ultron has them beat in terms of scope, though Star Wars and LotR come very close. I liked The Winter Soldier a bit more as a film, but I don't see how the scope for it was bigger.
shareI thought the finale for The Winter Soldier felt a lot bigger and there was a lot more at stake than in Age of Ultron. Well, obviously the destruction of the world is the higher danger, but the build up was so poor in my opinion that it reduced the feeling of something being at stake.
As for Age of Ultron as a whole, I felt it was too disjointed and the narrative was such as mess that I didn't really get a feeling of a grand scope at all. The shortcuts with the CGI didn't help either, I thought the effects were underwhelming.
Overall I enjoyed it a bit more than the first one, but it's still a huge step down from Iron Man and The Winter Soldier, for example.
R + L = J
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
shareIt's pretty much the same scope as every Bay Transformers film, that's not an insult, just saying that most blockbusters today have the scope of something like this, you just throw a lot of effects and destruction in there.
Transformers 4 is probably the most epic movie ever in that way, it's awful, but it certainly has scope and then some.
That's why true buzz is quite good if not great. It's an epic film and as entertaining as it gets. Anyone saying otherwise is flat out lying.

This was true when it was released and no other summer blockbuster has come close to matching AoU's scale and scope. It's budget hit the screen and then some and you could tell that they filmed on location all around the globe. It's the definition of epic.
shareShould we all curse to drive our points home?
shareLike in threads titled "Immensely entertaining movie " and "Damn, what a movie" just to show where proper word of mouth really landed in reality.
shareIn terms of Disney/Marvel as a business....Trader pessimism over cord cutting and the broader market correction have combined to make shares of Disney attractively valued for long-term investors.
shareIt's as good as I've seen.
"A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man."
What's with the post asking about hate? All I see is love for this movie and rightly so.

Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!
I accept your surrender.
And think, Civil War may actually top this movie! Thinking of that gives me tingles.
