Nearly Perfect
Avengers: Age of Ultron is nearly as good as the first and in same cases, it surpassed the original.
Ultron is a great villain. James Spader should get Oscar consideration for the amount of expression and charisma he put into the character with just his voice. There are moments of pure genius as he portrays Ultron as both powerful and frightened. Even some of his quips come off as both funny and tragic depending on how you view the character.
The action is top notch and some of the scenes just took my breath away with how they were staged. The opening scene of all the Avengers leaping through the air in slo-mo and then the final battle as they defend their position were truly sentient moments in filmmaking.
The one thing that dragged the movie down for me was the trite love story between Romanov and Banner. It was not written, acted or directed well. It had a forced feel to it. It wasn't organic. I got the impression ScoJo and Mark Ruffalo were playing characters from a romcom that accidently got edited into this movie. It just messed with the tone of the film for me. The backstory for Barton/Hawkeye was done much better and I would have preferred Whedon had spent more time with the Romanov/Banner love story than the Barton backstory.
All in all, an almost flawless film. MCU is in great hands and hopefully these movies continue to be fun and entertaining.
My memory foam pillow says it can't remember my face. I can tell its lying.
