A Truly Awesome Comic Book Movie

Age of Ultron is a comic book movie for comic book fans. Sort of like how Spider-Man 2 captured the pop-art and good feels of its book; AoU really encapsulated what it's like to read a fun-filled Avengers romp with new character origins and a diabolical evil-plot-hatching villain and gorgeous "splash pages" of kinetic excitement. Objectively, it is in the top half of the MCU - and the MCU is itself a consistently good movie mega-franchise, so that's saying something.

Ultron, crimson cowl and all, leading the at-first evil twins to acquire Vibranium from Klaw to create Vision! YES! Also, his evil scheme was creative, evil-logical, and yet totally bonkers.

Hulk-Buster versus Hulk in an epic battle that proves you can wreck the sh!t outta stuff and have fun and not be boring and still achieve character development all the while. Nobody does it better than Joss!

Holy Hell, VISION was a revelation. This character, alongside Scarlet Witch are perfect additions to the MCU roster of superheroes. You couldn't pick two better pieces to add to the cast and I am so excited to see where they take them. The poetry of having them come into the picture together as orphans feeling a shared circumstance of loss and personal discovery did justice to Marvel's finest couple.

Hawkeye Family Cabin and the Avengers Party scenes gave real heart to the characters and the movie, and made me like them as characters with depth not just as avatars of coolness. The team attempting to lift the hammer, I mean c'mon that is an all-time classic CBM scene. And guess what... Vision holding it was only half the pay-off... (Infinity Wars 2!)

Talk all the crap you want about Thor's mangled vision quest, that was over-edited, yes, but it's also still in the oven as Thor: Ragnarok will tie-in (comic book phraseology) and pay it off.

Agree and Thor's mangled vision quest aside, everything else in this film was crisp and well structured. It is a treat for comic book fans just like Spider-Man 2 was and still is really. Seeing where they take Vision from here is going to be epic. I've read they want him to play a part in Guardians of The Galaxy sooner rather than later.

I'm giving this along with Ant-Man as many a Christmas gift. They really were the two most enjoyable movies of the entire year.

I've purchased five copies of AoU and four copies of Ant-Man so far with ten days still to think about my Christmas lits.

I accept your surrender.

Not many sequels can say that they are this well crafted and that they hit the highest denominator. Avengers could have phoned it in but absolutely didn't. Thank God for that.

It's nearly perfect and that's all that matters. Who cares what comes after it? Civil War may be awesome but that doesn't take anything away from this movie.

Best I've ever seen!

In and of itself, it's more or less fine, but there's a lot missing from it that hurts it. Lack of time for vital character development, most significantly. A few other irritants that I'm sure have been mentioned more times than we care to count anymore, too, but it's enjoyable enough.

I think I know precisely what I mean when I say it's a shpadoinkle day!

It looks like Doctor Strange is adding to the awesomeness for Marvel.

reply

That's good mojo.

I still may end up flipping AOU and Civil War on my all-time list. Love them both but battling Ultron > battling each other.

My favorite film of 2015.

Any time not spent on Marvel is wasted time.

reply

Yes A lot of people are divided on this one but I absolultely love it!!!!!

Lose the Game!!!!!!!

Not as many people as you think. It goes about 80/20 in favor of this film. Most call it "great" and one of the best sequels of all-time.

cool

Lose the Game!!!!!!!

Marvel Movies are earth's undecaying monuments.

reply

That could be the best point anyone will read on IMDB all day.

reply

That's why it's grerat to take time out now and revisit these pages. Without AOU being so good, we don't get the treat known as Civil War in the cinema right now!

Civil War is great but I still think I like this more. Hard to gauge really.

True greatness knows no boundaries. Marvel knows this better than most.

If you believe in MAN MADE climate change you should not be allowed to speak in public. Leo is a moron.
