If Craig never came back, what would they have had Vince do to get all the money? Any ideas?
What do you think will happen with Craig and his wife? Will he tell her everything, or make up soemthing? What sort of story could he make up to explain his condition and the cash. And if he does tell the truth, will she accept the cheating and the murder?
And, where do you think the rich guy made all his money?
They might have seen how far Vince would go to harm himself (like cut off an ear or do stunts like jump off a building, stand on train tracks) or what he could get away with before accidentally dying or getting arrested, like rob a store or something. But it was more interesting to see what the more vulnerable "regular Joe" guy could be driven to do. Vince was extremely easy to manipulate and Violet ignored him the whole time as if she found him predictable and tiresome. I think they enjoyed the competition between the guys much more than hurting them individually. They probably met at a bum fight.
No idea what Craig would tell his wife. I don't think that actor was very good at conveying layered emotions, so I couldn't grasp what was meant to be at the core of his character. He felt pretty blank and generic to me. To be fair, the script didn't really delve into the backstory of his marriage or why the wife can't contribute more. They probably should have spent 3 minutes to add a little more info about his situation
The rich guy probably made his money from drug trafficking, money laundering or something similarly illegal, but nothing too dangerous in his day to day life, so he'd feel arrogant and "above the law" yet still have to seek out new thrills.

I'm a little confused by this. It's pretty clear at the end that when the couple saw Craig and Vince meet up (her slideshow shows pics of Craig and Vince first meeting up), they placed a $50 bet between them that they can get one to kill the other. That's why at the end one of them gives the $50 to the other.
THAT's why the girl was so paranoid when Craig initially left. If he leaves, they don't get to have their real fun, which is seeing who will kill who.
SO if Craig never comes back, I think the couple tells Vince to go home, game over (since the bet between the couple is over to).
The thing is, Colin and Violet, as well as Vince, believed Craig was long gone after Violet went outside looking for him and couldn't find him.
And yet Colin eventually decided to offer Vince a chance at some money for cutting off his pink prior to Craig showing back up.
Which leads us back to the OP's question. After Vince would have cut off his finger, what else would he be asked to do?
We'll never know. That part we can just make up for ourselves, I guess.
