Anybody seen this?

I'm anxious to know..

Just saw it tonight at the Wisconsin Film Fest and I thought it was great! It's not scary exactly, but it's very squirmy. It looks great - very warm, very filmy. If you're like me, you know Pat Healy from Innkeepers and he's totally different and great here as a sympathetic dad with failed artiste-career intentions (a theme with the indie-horror crowd, to much good effect, IMO).

Even the David Koechner does a great job here, so if you like horror movies and his presence scares you off, no worries; it plays on his douche persona very well.

Also, Sarah Paxton - wow, never saw her in this kind of roll, but she can clearly play any kind of roll.

How about Sara Paxton?

^ Review above calls it "a darkly comedic, tense, knotty valentine of leaching amorality," which i think is both evocative and appropriate... good stuff!

ah. so, YOU called it "a darkly comedic, tense, knotty valentine of leaching amorality,", eh? ;)

I saw it at Frightfest and loved it. It's very grim and darkly funny, well worth checking out when it gets a release.

reply

Yup. I saw it at Frightfest as well and I loved it. Probably my favourite film of the year so far. If you see it with a receptive audience then even better. You'll be laughing half the time and biting your nails the other half. There's even a moment of unexpected heartfelt sympathy in there late in the day for one of the characters and, as has already been said, the final shot is iconic and a metaphor for the times we live in. An excellent slice of independent filmmaking.

Saw it just at the After Dark film festival in Toronto and it was entertaining, disturbing and funny.

reply

Im going to see it tonight at the Black Bear Festival in Warsaw and I'm really hyped up!

Just saw it. A fantastic dark comedy that is both hilarious and a bit disturbing at times, but that doesn't focus on the gore element. A really great film with fantastic performances by most of the cast. Koechner really isn't much different than most of his roles, but Ethan Embry is almost unrecognizable and Sarah Paxton was VERY different than normal. Pat Healy was also quite impressive. A great, VERY dark and funny film!

I saw it back in March at SXSW and I loved every single demented minute of it!

This is a must see for people who can handle it. It's *beep* up dark comedy with brutal tone at times.

reply

Pretty messed up film, very dark. very well done id recommend it.

It's funny and entertaining. Nothing amazing or innovative but still a good time. A friend of mine saw it and hated it but he went in expecting a dead serious horror film and it's definitely not that.
