Stupid and unconvincing movie...

The movie started off good, but the moment Craig agreed to hold the couple hostage was when it lost credibility. It was no his character at all to do such a thing, that the whole thing became a stupid mess afterward.

Craig went from being someone we cared about, the underdog in need of a little help (a situation we've ALL been in and can thus relate) to being a complete loser who's lucky to have a wife in the first place. Only the biggest, total and complete loser would chop their finger off for money.

Ultimately, the movie was just not convincing.

It's a movie about what desperation can drive people to do. It could be said that it not being in his character was the while point. Or it could be said that he did what he had to do to provide for his family and it was totally in character. I prefer the latter.

No, I have to agree with the OP. It's like a torture porn version of the hangover with gay undertones.

This move takes place in LA where I fvcking live. A good attractive looking somewhat hipster looking white couple is never in a situation like that Im' sorry..

It's a movie about a stupid bet that tries to use desperation in a way where it never feels real, it was just a cheap way to be liked. awful movie I gave it a 2 cause I liked the 50 dolar bit at the end

No, it's awful.
A great movie under this tone is Funny Games.
As The OP says, this lost its credibility where it needed to go deeper, and it fell apart from there.

Pretty bad movie. obviously we knew how it was going to end, since there's SO many of these movies out there.

The dumbest part is how he just comes home equity to his wife, dumps the money on the sofa, and stands there all bloody as if he thinks his wife would be proud.

The dude vomits on himself and gets beaten multiple times and can't bother to wash up his face a little? Even gets into a taxi with a duffle bag and clothes so bloody it looks like he just murdered a few people LOL totally believable behavior!
