shareOP is right. From the sentence he got, it appears the court completely over-looked the self-defense aspect. I believe he would get intense therapy but he wouldn't have been confined to a mental institution, especially considering he was just a kid! Did the court not consider that locking a kid up in an institute could make him worse?
