Why even bother making them parent's?

Since the actors who played the kids are listed in the credits I'm guessing that their scenes have been cut from the film.

If it was solely for that gag in the beginning with them chasing the school bus I'm ashamed on behalf of the people who made this film.

Well 1. It makes them seem more square if they have kids.
2. They sort of used the kids for jokes in the movie, like when they answered the phone mid car chase and talked to their kids about splitting the cookie.

Its' because they needed to portray the typical married, suburban family with kids so they could make all the jokes about that type of lifestyle & how boring a couple gets when they devote all their time & energy into raising them & they forget about themselves. All the way thru the film they drop those references in there. Happens to all of us & its' funny to see them make fun of it because I've lived it.
