the Bond film with least rewatchabilty factor

The one where if you catch it on TV you cant change channels fast enough (unlike other bond films where you'd treat yourself to an impromptu Bond watch)..or if you have the DVD/bluray (as part of the set or separate) it never been played and may as well be used as a 007 drinks coaster:

Spectre
Quantum of Solace
Die Another Day
The World Is Not Enough
Never Say Never Again
Diamonds are Forever
OHMSS
Thunderball

I'd give it to Spectre ..which dosnt bode well for NTTD as it seems they're going out their way to make it a direct sequel.. be like if they'd made a 5th Brosnan a full on connected sequel to Die Another Day with Berry coming back..(actually that would've been quite fun! lol)

Die Another Day may well be a bit stupid at points but I wouldn't exactly describe it as boring. Especially Halle Berry's scenes 😜

I watch OHMSS every December, so wouldn't call the Christmas Bond boring either.

Otherwise, not a bad list. I haven't seen Spectre but I'd be hard pressed to believe it could be any worse than QoS. I'd also add Casino Royale and Dalton's efforts. I actually tried giving The Living Daylights another go the other evening as it was on but it wasn't happening.

I didn't really want to put DAD there as it is fun especially the first half but the second half in the ice castle, invisible car and the Sega megadrive windsurf . its almost verging into Batman & Robin territory

TWINE similarly probably shouldn't be there.. maybe I should take it off the list?

I know everyone loves OHMSS and theres the Piz Gloria stuff and Emma Peel but I've never been able to make it through start to finish

Spectres about the same as Quantum..maybe a little better but not much..idk its close.. both quite unwatchable again

also NSNA is on for being an imitation Bond: no John Barry, Carry On supporting cast (aside the villian), and boring underwater finale. (Thunderball is similaly there for its mindnumbingly boring underwater scenes) and Diamonds are Forever is like a silly 70s caper that shouldve starred Burt Reynolds as Bond

btw all of Moores are exempt for being too entertaining. even FYEO

Quantum far and away. If, as you say, I was flicking through TV channels and came across a Bond movie I would be more than likely to stop and watch, but Quantum is...ugh. Unless it was the opera scene, then I'd probably watch that. But it's all over when the fat lady sings.

Depending on whatever else was on, I could see landing on pretty much any other Bond and thinking, "Oh, cool!" and watching it.

the opera scene in QoS is pretty cool. thats probably the only good thing about the movie.

I dont think theres anything in Spectre thats decent.. maybe the Eyes Wide Shut style conference?..thats about it

reply

For Spectre, yes, the conference is cool. I liked the car chase scene, the ski scene (which was kinda classic Bond), the performances are good, Monica Bellucci is a goddess (and should have been in the movie more) - there are several things that I liked about the film. Honestly, my big problem with Spectre is just the Blofeld "reveal" which was completely lame. They should have made Spectre its own entity and not tried to tie everything in to all the previous movies (and even further into Bond's personal past). But the action scenes are solid (unlike QoS where they're beset by the kind of shaky-cam ultrafast cut nonsense that plagues certain action films).

All of the Craig films have zero rewatchability. That is true for any series that is a 'saga' that forces you to watch multiple episodes before the story wraps up. All of the other Bond films can be watched over and over again. I have seen The Living Daylights probably more than 50 times and I enjoy it the same each time.

add NTTD

Diamonds Are Forever and No Time To Die.

Die Another Day may have been dumb in some places but it was hella entertaining.
