I just discovered today that it was released in January but not a clue as to how I can watch it (and no, I don't have any of the cable services... so I need a theatre or a place to get the DVD if its out.)

On January 18, 2013, CNN Films announced that they have acquired the rights to air Life Itself on television. It premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. Magnolia Pictures will distribute the film and it will air on CNN later this year.
It will be released on iTunes, on demand and in theaters starting July 4th. The info can be found at www.ebertmovie.com I got to see it in January and it brought tears to my eyes.
