movie worthy?
Would this have been movie worthy if not for the cancer? Ebert was a troubled soul, not the best movie critic but a good writer. A case of style over substance. While I am sure that he was a great guy within his own circles I do not know where this adoration for a guy who wrote Beyond the Valley of Dolls and adored Russ Meyer comes from and makes him a great critic... just sayin'
When he was on TV, I generally went to see movies he didn't like - I knew I would like them. Personally, we preferred Siskel's commentaries...at least he didn't change his opinions / reviews over time and did not inject his morality into someone else's art!
