To the review saying it focused too much on his illness...


... this was being made BEFORE he passed away. I believe if they knew he would pass, it would have focused more on his early life/reviews/love of film, but it ended up being a nice balance of the two.

Well, they started to make it before he passed.... He did not live to see it all.

The movie is a total guilt trip , it would not be getting the rave reviews its getting if It didn't focus on the really sick Ebert

it's probably true that skewing the film toward the end of his life is what's producing the rave reviews.

focusing as much as it did on his final years gave a brilliant portrait of how people deal with failing health and death, which you pretty much never see in the movies.

if you think that was done just to milk sympathy or guilt (guilt for what?), you're mistaken.
