Did not get nominated for an Oscar

They just announced the Academy Award nominees and Life Itself is not among the films nominated for best documentary.

This is very surprising.

Of the nominees, I've seen "CITIZENFOUR" and "The Salt of the Earth" and both are great movies, but only the latter was on the same level as "Life Itself", a film that truly reminds us as moviegoers about what an important presence Roger Ebert was and still is.

I couldn't believe it. Surely Hollywood would have honoured Ebert with one of its highest awards, even if the film was rubbish. But it isn't - it's a sublime and touching documentary which managed the rare feat of making me cry.

Overnighters got the higher snubbing. Roger was an important character but he deserved a more potent swan song.
