Can we actually talk about the movie, not about the actors' races?

I'm sick of all the race arguments (kind of ironic since I'm posting about race but anyway)
It seems I can't browse any freaking imdb film boards anymore without seeing at least one race argument.
The amount of people here offended by an interracial couple is astounding. WHO CARES. They are just freaking people, the colour of their skin does not matter at all, we're not in the goddamn 1950s anymore people jeez.
I just want to look at threads discussing the movie but there's always one a-hole turning it into a race thing.
IT'S A FREAKING MOVIE, NOT A POLITICAL DEBATE GODDAMN.

PS: I really enjoyed the movie. Sure it was unrealistic at times, but I'm not demanding realism as long as it's entertaining with good characters, which it was.

Agreed.

AGREED.
Only on imdb do I see such debates.
Who fricking cares.
When will people complain about hair color? Seems to me it matters just as much as skin color.

reply

LOL You should see the comments section on YouTube. The racist are up in arms. Though it's funny because if this movie were starring Ryan Gosling and Zoe Saldana, you would see and hear nothing but crickets in the comments section.

Why do you think that is?

Jenny: Why are you so good to me?
Forrest: You're my girl!

GOOD idea! I want to know if these kind of con jobs really happen and if so, where can I sign up? I mean they were cleaning UP!!! LOL. Is it really THAT easy to con people??? Are they really THAT stupid? If so, I'm in the wrong business. I want IN!

Actors are mere products of a good writer's imagination

I think its good that this movie stirred up a debate; it shows that a lot of people actually don't appreciate the race-mixing propaganda from hollywood. You generally don't get this reaction as often.

On your topic; i thought the movie started out good but got pretty bad pretty quickly. After the sports-betting with the asian man it got out of hand. Overall rated 5/10.

reply

I gave it a 8/10. I love this con movies where you don't know what's gonna happen at every turn. I was wrong with my prediction of how the story would go and I'll say it's good to be surprised in my movie or tv show watching.

It seems too often recently I've been able to figure out the plot or the twist before it actually happens. I was glad I was wrong. But I think we need to see a second film here so that Nicky can get his money back from Bucky with Jess' help. That would be an interesting story.

Thank you. That's what it is, propaganda. They don't care if it's tripe, the agenda is #1. Stupid people will pay $$ to see the crap no matter what and their agenda continues.

@Moovee-fan

Propaganda? The move is good entertainment, that's all. Having an interracial couple in it does NOT make it some propaganda. Interracial couples are a regular part of real life now. It's your problem if you can't deal with it. You need to ask yourself why you're buying into that racist a** poster's racist bull****---because that is clearly all that person is about. I mean, c'mon---who the *beep* in this day and age actually believes the bull**** that person just spouted? Only you two stupid racist idiots, apparently.

reply

Lol @ "propaganda"

Delusional insecure racist spotted.

It's not propaganda. It's a good film. Not everything that makes you feel insecure is propaganda, kiddo.

Debate about what? Seriously, interracial couples have been existing in this country almost since it came into being. It existed well before Hollywood, and only an idiot wanna-be white supremacist like you actually believes that "race-mixing propaganda" bull****. Well, you know what? I know plenty of interracial couple in real life, some of them within my own family, so seeing a couple like the main one in FOCUS isn't part of some bull**** propaganda thing, it's simply part of REAL life. It's the norm for a lot of us, as much as you don't want to admit it. You don't even see that many IR couples being the main characters in the majority of Hollywood films, so what the hell are you even complaining about? Just shut the *beep* up already. Nobody gives a damn if you don't like IR couples because you think you're so fckn superior simply because you're white.

About the movie: the only good thing in this movie is Margot Robbie's pretty face... the only interesting actor is BD Wong. 50 million dollars for such a not-worth-to-see movie.

reply

Yes it's an unhealthy hate and obsession going on. Very, very sad. Funnily enough the whole white woman with non-white guys was brought up in the movie.

As for this movie, it sucked, what a bore fest. The two leads had little chemistry. Will Smith comes off as phoning it in at times. Good on him for looking great though.

Only worth it for, as stated, staring at Margot Robbie's pretty face and BD Wong was delightful and hilarious for his brief time. The direction was fine and the cinematography was also nice and fitted the story.

5/10, another clunker in the year 2015...
