Jumped the Shark

Had me until 55:20, then it jumped the shark.

A tip for writers, directors, et al. - if you spend time developing a character, you can't decide halfway through the movie that the aforementioned character is now different. It doesn't work. Case in point: This movie.

The term "jumped the shark" doesn't work for a movie, only series. What do you mean? Do you think viewers would remember what happened at the time you gave? Do know the origin? I even saw that episode first-run when Fonzie skied over a shark.

Thanx for making no point. Tip for you: explain more & don't use wrong terms.

Your explanation made no sense at all. So you saw a shark great, we have all seen sharks. What is the history of sharks? You never explained this concept. So for that reason you wrong.

Next time you post please make a point and use legitimate English.

You are in the presence of the real IMDb Legend. You're welcome.

I never typed that I saw a shark.
You used the term.
Look up "jump the shark" & you'll see what it means.

My previous comments stand, which are very mild.

Sharks are a group of fish characterized by a cartilaginous skeleton, five to seven gill slits on the sides of the head, and pectoral fins that are not fused to the head. Modern sharks are classified within the clade Selachimorpha (or Selachii) and are the sister group to the rays. However, the term "shark" has also been used for extinct members of the subclass Elasmobranchii outside the Selachimorpha, such as Cladoselache and Xenacanthus, as well as other Chondrichthyes such as the holocephalid eugenedontidans. Under this broader definition, the earliest known sharks date back to more than 420 million years ago.[1] Acanthodians are often referred to as "spiny sharks"; though they are not part of Chondrichthyes proper, they are a paraphyletic assemblage leading to cartilaginous fish as a whole.

It's "jump the shark." It's a phrase not to be taken literally, my fellow IMBD'er. To "jump the shark" means some idea, some concept has been stretched thin and doesn't make enough sense. In logical terms, Idea A + Facts B don't equal Result C. There's not enough information to make the connection.

The term "jump the shark" comes from the hypothetical suggestion that there's no way you can literally jump over a shark without getting bit because they were very powerful meat eating hunters. If you are accused of "jumping the shark" then, you are said to have done something virtually impossible.

You, sir, have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

Jumped the shark is a 'real' thing that happened with Fonzie on Happy Days ...

Alas, I have no patience for those who know not Google... *sigh*

I know. I was fully engaged the first half of the film waiting for the big thing to happen and then they split the story by 3 years and figured okay the next story's going to be 50 times better, well, no dice, Smitty settles the racing dispute and Margot reveals her dumbass purpose for being there. Well, whoop-di-doo!
