Great ideas that went nowhere

Wow... I was watching this with my wife last night.

Throughout the movie, we looked at each other like "what's going on here?"

It was confusing, sloppy. Yes, I understand that was kind of the point of the movie. You can't trust anyone, everyone lies, here's the twist etc. But it felt like they had all these great ideas that they just lumped together in the end to finish the damn thing. I think it was kind of a mess really.

They could've done this much, much better.

I also think that the Football scene was ridiculous and too much. I know the whole planning and playing with the guy's mind is possible but they really stretched it.

That's just my opinion though.

I think the second half of the movie (everything connected to the race cars) was completely unnecessary. They should have developed the first half of the movie in more detail. The "number 55" con could have been the main big con of the movie. The idea of using subliminal persuasion was very interesting - unrealistic and very risky, for sure, but still interesting. They should have built the whole second half of the movie around that 55 con.

Interesting.

Especially since they spent so much time exaining it, yet that is never used again, nor is the entire event ever referred to for the remained of the movie.

Even the entire theft ring crew just up and vanished (outside of the fat guy) without a word
